KYCC Marches in 2024 LA Pride Parade
KYCC joined the 2024 Los Angeles Pride Parade, on June 9, for the second consecutive year. Employees from various KYCC programs marched in the parade alongside the Sidewalk Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting well-being for people living outdoors.
Ten volunteers from KYCC and four volunteers from the Sidewalk Project distributed Narcan, also known as naloxone, a nasal spray used to prevent opioid overdose, to parade participants to raise awareness and advocate for harm reduction in our community. This year, more than 150,000 spectators and participants attended the LA Pride Parade. The goal of our participation in this year’s parade was to express solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community in Koreatown and highlight that KYCC services are accessible to all community members.
The LA Pride Parade & Festival stands as one of the biggest Pride events nationwide. They not only host this celebration but also take part in organizing, sponsoring, or endorsing various community gatherings in and around Los Angeles. Collaborating with nonprofit organizations, philanthropic groups, local communities, and corporate allies, they aim to honor the diverse LGBTQ+ community of Los Angeles.
KYCC’s choice to join this year’s LA Pride parade again was driven by a desire to enhance engagement and demonstrate allyship with the LGBTQ+ community. The initiative was led predominantly by LGBTQ+ staff members, with every department of the organization participating in our outreach endeavors.
Special thank you to LA Pride for allowing us to be a part of this special annual event.
