This year, KYCC is participating in our first ever #GivingTuesday. This special day takes place on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 and is an international day dedicated to giving. KYCC launched the campaign on November 1 to raise $3,000 dollars to buy 300 more toys for our 23rd Annual Holiday Carnival. In the spirit of #GivingTuesday, we will be accepting donations throughout the entire month of November with our campaign culminating on the 29th.

Last year, more than 45,000 organizations in 71 countries celebrated #GivingTuesday together. Founded in 2012, #GivingTuesday continues to inspire giving around the world year after year. Each celebration results in greater donations, volunteer hours, and activities that bring about change in communities.

This #GivingTuesday, KYCC intends to give the gift of holiday cheer to low-income children and families in Koreatown. For nearly 23 years, our Holiday Carnival has spread the joy of the season to low-income children and families in Koreatown by offering a fun-filled day of games and performances. With free admission and free gifts for children ages 0-10, our Holiday Carnival attracts 2.500+ community members each year. For most of these children, this is their only chance to receive gifts and revel in holiday festivities. This year, we are aiming for more presents and more smiling faces, but we need your help to do it!

“I hope #GivingTuesday inspires people to partner with us and give back to the community this holiday season,” explains KYCC Executive Director Johng Ho Song. “Our #GivingTuesday goal of $3,000 will provide 300 more toys during our Annual Holiday Carnival to these very deserving children. We do our best to make this day special for them.”

In an effort to increase awareness, KYCC has created a campaign page where supporters can make donations and participate in peer-to-peer fundraising efforts. With the help of our supporters, we hope to redefine the holiday season for our youngest neighbors.
