Koreatown families waited in line from 6:00 a.m. for KYCC’s 26th Annual Holiday Carnival at Wilton Place Elementary School on Saturday, December 7, 2019. Over 1,230 carnival participants, volunteers, staff, sponsors, performers and community leaders and organizations gathered for KYCC’s yearly Holiday Carnival.

Koreatown families and children enjoyed a full-day of games, arts and crafts, live entertainment by Mista Cookie Jar and JUiCE Hiip Hop, and a free toy giveaway for all children ages 0-10. KYCC focused on creating a safe, engaging and family-friendly festival for all the residents of Koreatown and its neighboring areas.

JUiCE hip hop performers gave free hip hop dance lessons and an interactive musical experience for our holiday carnival participants. JUiCE is a hip hop arts organization in Los Angeles geared toward inner city youth who are interested in music and dance. Mista Cookie Jar, a Los Angeles children’s music performer and producer, sang catchy, funky and original tunes for children and adults to enjoy.

For weeks leading up to the event, hundreds of volunteers helped to gift-wrap presents. Due to the generous support of our Title Sponsor, Anthem Blue Cross Medi-Cal, and many others, 750 children received a beautifully wrapped gift this holiday. While it was a bit wet and gusty for our Annual Holiday Carnival, a little rain couldn’t dampen the holiday spirit of joy and fun. Children enjoyed bouncy houses and inflatable slides and special appearances by Olaf from the Disney movie ‘Frozen’ and the Grinch, made the toy giveaway extra special this year!

We are so grateful to all the volunteers and KYCC staff who gave the gift of compassion and community this holiday by working booths, setting up stations, facilitating games, coordinating activities and wrapping hundreds of presents. We are truly grateful for the amazing Koreatown community who makes this event so special and memorable each year.
