Wilshire FamilySource Center Hosts Back-to-School Backpack Distribution

On Thursday, August 7, 2025, KYCC’s Wilshire FamilySource Center hosted its Annual Back-to-School Backpack Distribution to guarantee that every child in our community receives the necessary school supplies and resources for a confident start to their academic year, aiming to remove financial obstacles to educational success and provide vital support to our students.  

Numerous KYCC units collaborated with the Wilshire FamilySource Center to ensure the success of this event, including staff members from KYCC’s Community Economic Development, Prevention Education, and Youth Services programs who generously offered their time and expertise.

Through our collective efforts, we successfully supported 180 families, benefiting a total of 790 individual household members. This event not only offered material assistance, but also highlighted the importance of valuing our families and their children’s education within the broader community.

The Back-to-School Backpack Distribution embodies KYCC’s dedication to dismantling barriers, fostering community connections, and ensuring that every child is equipped with the necessary tools for success.

“This is an incredible event! My daughter participates in the KYCC Wilshire FSC College Corner program and she was so excited to come and pick up school supplies and other items for her return to school,” says the parent of a College Corner student.
