MPCI Hosts Third Annual MacArthur Park Family Art Night

On Saturday, August 2, 2025  KYCC’s Prevention Education MacArthur Park Community Initiative (MPCI) celebrated its third annual Family Art Night at MacArthur Park. This event was designed to support the Levitt Pavilion’s Summer Concert Series, aimed at boosting attendance at the concerts.

MPCI collaborated with members of our Community Advisory Board to offer a variety of engaging art activities in the park, including slime making, rock painting, printmaking, and sun printing. Additionally, local organizations provided valuable community resources such as immigration support, public transit assistance, and harm reduction services. The event saw participation from over 60 attendees and 20 volunteers, representing seven different organizations.

Given the current heightened uncertainty and fear within the MacArthur Park community around the ICE raids, MYPARC interns prepared 40 craft kits filled with diverse activities, resources, and handwritten letters of encouragement for families to enjoy at home, which were distributed during Family Art Night.

“Efforts like this make the community shine in the most beautiful of ways,” says Allegra Padilla, Levitt LA Executive Director.

In summary, Family Art Night was a resounding success, infusing MacArthur Park with wonderful energy and hope during uncertain times. Special thank you to event partners—Levitt LA, Metro Bikes, Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust, LA Commons, LACMA, Athens Services, and Office of Mayor Karen Bass.
