Southern California Public Radio’s A Martínez visited KYCC for a Take Two radio piece on underage drinking in Koreatown. On the program, Martínez interviewed KoreAm reporter Steve Han, who wrote an in-depth piece on Koreatown youth and alcohol as a project of The California Endowment Health Journalism Fellowships, an initiative of the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.
“Identifying a problem is the easy part,” Han says during the program. “But what’s hard is to address that problem and come up with solutions.” Han cites KYCC’s Card Under 35 Merchant Pledge Campaign, which informs business owners and their employees about strategies to avoid illegal alcohol sales to minors, as a model in the community for spreading alcohol and substance abuse awareness.
