On Oct. 2, 2018, KYCC hosted “Resource Night: College Edition” at our Wilton Center to help Korean American parents and high school students prepare for college. Staff from our Clinical Services, Prevention Education, Youth Services and Community Economic Development came together to provide an informational college planning session that included a free dinner for attendees.

Topics at this college prep workshop ranged from preparing for the SAT and ACT exams, career goals heading into college, writing strong personal statements for their college applications and financial aid for college tuition. About 20 parents and 20 high school students participated in this free event and were able to gain invaluable college access resources for their families.

We are grateful to the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) and Department of Children and Family Services (LACDCFS) for funding this event and for providing so many families this opportunity to make the college planning process as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.
