On December 15, 2021, KYCC’s Prevention Education placed over 500 stickers on alcoholic beverages in two liquor stores for the 2021 holidays. The stickers read “Did you know? Purchasing or providing alcohol to anyone under the age of 21 is a serious crime.” The stickers aim to inform, educate and remind community members on the consequences of selling and providing alcohol to underage youth.

Our Responsible Retailer Program, launched in 2014 by KYCC’s Environmental Prevention Services (EPS), works with local businesses to reduce underage drinking and raise awareness about the risks of sales to underage persons. The program goal is to reduce potential alcohol-related harms during the holidays and improve our community’s overall well-being.

Sarah Lee, Prevention Specialist II, and Prevention Specialist, Karen Salas, were able to place 500 stickers on alcoholic beverages at Gourmet Liquor and A&S Liquor in Koreatown. Our Prevention Education staff continuously outreaches to local retailers to provide resources and services to help local businesses while keeping our community safe.
