KYCC held it’s first Annual Unwind Your Mind Youth Summit on Friday, April 22, 2022 at Anderson Munger YMCA. The purpose of the Unwind Your Mind Youth Summit was to provide a space for youth to be in community with one another and learn about mental health and wellness, as well as participate in different self-care activities that they can implement in their daily lives.

Over 60 youth attended the event, including 14 students who facilitated their own workshops and MC’d the event, from KYCC’s YDAPP, BRIDGE, and SAY programs. They were also able to participate in educational workshops regarding race, mental wellness, and the harms of smoking. Wellness workshops included art and dog therapy, hip hop, and zine making, which were all part of the event’s activities. Thank you to our Prevention Education, Youth Services and Clinical Services staff for collaborating and working on this event together for our youth!

The event was funded by the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health, Substance Abuse and Prevention Control, Sierra Health Foundation – Elevate Youth California, and Los Angeles County of Department of Children and Family Services – Prevention & Aftercare.
