KYCC and five Koreatown Banks (Bank of Hope, CBB Bank, Hanmi Bank, Open Bank and Pacific City Bank) will announce free tax preparation services for low-income families. Through this collaboration, more than 200 volunteers from Koreatown banks and the community were trained and certified to assist 12,000 families with basic free income tax preparation services. Services are available to ensure working families claim the Federal and California Earned Income Tax Credit that combined are worth up to $10,000 this year.

“KYCC is pleased to provide tax services for our twelfth year,” said Johng Ho Song, KYCC Executive Director. “The tax programs success and growth over the years is due to our partnerships with Koreatown-area banks.”

“Our trained and certified volunteers are specialists in screening for tax credits, like the Federal and State Earned Income Tax Credits that are often overlooked and go unclaimed,” added Song. “Working families are missing out on thousands of dollars by not filing a tax return.”

Since its inception in 2006, our VITA program has been one of the leaders in providing free tax preparation services for the Los Angeles community, serving nearly 30,000 low-income families throughout central Los Angeles and returning more than $27.5 million in refunds back to our community.

Families with basic tax preparation needs and incomes below $54,000 are welcome to take advantage of this free service. Services are available weeknights and on Saturdays during the day until April 15, 2018. To make appointments, clients can visit our tax preparation website www.freetaxprepla.com or call 323-909-1975.
