KYCC virtually celebrated mothers at their 4th Annual Flores De Mayo event on May 8, 2020. Funded by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Substance Abuse Prevention and Control, the virtual event recognized parents in our community for their advocacy, hard work and dedication to building a healthier and safer community for all.

Over 100 people participated in this year’s Flores de Mayo virtual event on Zoom. Special guest speakers included KYCC Coalition Support Yancy Mauricio, former KYCC staff Evelyn Balderas and Prevention Specialist Jazmin Garcia, who shared personal stories about how they were impacted by substance use disorders and why they are so passionate now about prevention education and advocacy.

KYCC’s Executive Director Johng Ho Song also made a special appearance to personally thank the mothers in this group for their community activism and volunteerism.
