To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Getty Center, Getty partnered with community organizations across Los Angeles County to provide free arts festivals to the public. KYCC, CARS, and Getty hosted Celebrate Koreatown on June 11 and 12 at Jamison Services Liberty Park in Koreatown.

The two day festival featured performances, art, workshops, and activities to showcase all of the diversity and cultural beauty that Koreatown has to offer. The two days of programming included a musical performance by HOLA’s Eisner Intergenerational Orchestra, drumming by Hwarang Youth Foundation, performances by Seasun Theater Group, Nueva Antequera, El Feeling, Buyepongo, and much more!

Families also had the opportunity to experience parts of the Getty that were brought to Koreatown for the celebration, including an immersive video installation, photo booth, and 3D artwork experience viewed through iPads.

“Each festival is a celebration of community, and we’re thrilled to see so many artists and organizations taking part in these events…We hope that these festivals will mark the beginning of a new relationship between Getty and the communities that we serve,” says John Giurini, Assistant Director for Public Affairs at J. Paul Getty Museum.

Thank you to Getty, CARS, and all of the performers, artists, and community partners who made this event such a beautiful celebration of our community. Learn more about the upcoming Getty 25 Celebrations happening throughout Los Angeles County here
