KYCC and The Karsh Family Social Service Center came together on November 20 for Karsh Center’s Big Give Week. Hosted annually, the Big Give Week brings together Karsh Center’s many collaborators and partners for a week of programming including online gatherings, at-home service projects, learning sessions, and 1,500 Thanksgiving meal bag deliveries.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, “we’ve been delivering grocery bags to residents who reside in the KYCC housing buildings. For Thanksgiving, Karsh who is a great partner, has their Big Give event which usually entails distributing grocery bags with Thanksgiving meals for families,” says Julio Barahona, KYCC’s Menlo ICMS Site Coordinator, who has been coordinating the grocery delivery program.

This year through the Big Give event in partnership with The Karsh Family Social Service Center, KYCC was able to distribute 180 Thanksgiving grocery bags which each serve a family of four, to low-income seniors and residents throughout Koreatown. In the face of many new challenges this year, this event allowed members of the community an opportunity to experience the comfort of a Thanksgiving meal.
