In a new collaboration with the Karsh Family Social Service Center, KYCC will provide weekly home delivery food bags to extremely low-income and formerly homeless residents at our Menlo Family Apartments.

Karsh, based at the Wilshire Boulevard Temple, will supply nonperishable foods, dry goods and produce from their food pantry in Koreatown and handle free deliveries. KYCC will be tasked with outreach and coordination with families who join the program and will supplement Karsh’s food bags with additional fresh produce and food items that represent the cultures of the community.

KYCC and Karsh’s joint efforts were funded by a $24,000 grant from the Asian Pacific Community Fund (APCF), an organization that receives and in turn distributes $81,000 from the Walmart Foundation State Council for the API Children and Families Nutrition and Food Assistance Program. In addition to KYCC, APCF partners with the Asian Youth Center and Korean American Family Services in hopes of supplying 40,000 pounds of food to 4,800 people in the next year.
