KYCC’s Prevention Education Takes Action for National Prescription Drug Takeback Day 2025
On Saturday, October 25, 2025, KYCC’s Prevention Education “Let’s Make a Difference” team collaborated with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Rampart Division and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to host the annual National Prescription Drug Takeback Day.

At the event, community members were able to safely dispose of expired or unused prescription medications and learn about KYCC’s “Let’s Make a Difference” campaign, which promotes safe medication storage and disposal practices to prevent misuse and protect the environment.

This year, we were excited to expand our efforts by hosting a Community Resource Fair alongside the medication drop-off booth. The fair brought together numerous community partners, including KYCC’s Recovery Services & Prevention Education programs, Institutes for Public Strategies Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Behavioral Health Services The Wall Las Memorias Social Model Recovery Services and Clinica Romero.

Together, these organizations shared valuable health and wellness resources, substance use prevention information, and community support services with local residents.

We are proud to share that this year’s Takeback Day collected a total of 142.2 pounds of unused or expired prescription medication — helping ensure these substances are safely removed from homes and properly disposed of.
A special thank you goes to Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez’s Office and CALI 93.9 for their continued collaboration and support in making this event a success.

Through events like these, KYCC remains committed to promoting community health, safety, and education across Los Angeles. Learn more about the work of KYCC’s Prevention Education at www.kyccla.org/pe.
