KYCC’s Clinical Services was selected by the Frank D. Lanterman Regional Center (FDLRC) to serve the Korean community with a newly implemented Community Health Worker Program. The goal for this program is to connect families and individuals to available community resources, educate them about disabilities and their child’s/family’s needs, and to improve advocacy skills. Two full-time community health workers will serve up to 20 Korean-speaking clients and their families each year.

FDLRC serves individuals with, or who are at-risk for, developmental disabilities and their families. By law, California residents with developmental disabilities are eligible to receive services via their regional center. For many families and individuals, especially for those whose primary language is not English, finding and navigating these services are a challenge.

“KYCC is proud to be selected by the Frank D. Lanterman Regional Center to pilot a Community Health Worker Program for the Korean community,” said Grace Park, KYCC Clinical Manager. “Individuals with developmental disabilities are especially vulnerable and may encounter difficulty navigating social services. We hope to bridge the gap between clients and the vital services that they need to access.”
