On June 9, KYCC Clinical Services’ API-PFF and API-PNA collaborated with Yoga Angels International Foundation to host a Parent Self Care event for mothers. Parents were gifted yoga mats, water bottles, and an acai bowl at the end of the session. There were 8 mothers at the event, and 4 babies in the next room who received childcare!

API-PFF is a home visitation service targeting Asian American and Pacific Islander families with children 0-5 and a risk factor of the following: domestic violence, substance use issues, mental health concerns or young age (i.e. teen pregnancy). The purpose of the program is to prevent child abuse and neglect. API-PNA provides case management for families with children 0-17.

“The Parent Self-Care event has to be one of our favorite events to host. Parents are welcome to a relaxing activity of 1-2 hours and we provide the childcare during that time. This year, we hired an amazing yoga instructor and a Korean interpreter from Yoga Angels International Foundation,” said Ha Yeon Kim, API-PFF Program Coordinator.

Funding for this program is provided by LA County DCFS – Partnerships for Families (PFF) program and LA County DCFS – Prevention and Aftercare (PNA) program. To learn more about KYCC Clinical Services click here.
