Calling all Trekkies!

Paramount Pictures has partnered with Omaze for an exclusive charity experience that will benefit KYCC. One lucky Star Trek fan will win a walk-on role in the new Star Trek Beyond film, which is currently in production.

In addition to the grand prize, each week for the #toboldlygo campaign, Omaze is randomly selecting an additional winner to form the first-ever “To Boldly Go Crew.” The members of this honorary crew will visit the set, hang with the cast, and watch as they film scenes from Star Trek Beyond. Every $10 entry supports nine global causes, each nominated by members of the cast.

The contest will end in September.

Former KYCC staffer John Cho, who plays Hikaru Sulu in the new Star Trek franchises selected KYCC to benefit from the proceeds of this charity event. The other recipients include: Brave Beginnings, Camp Sunshine, Direct Relief, Kids Can, Heaven Homes, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Make-A-Wish Foundation and Time is Precious.

“KYCC is honored that John Cho nominated us as the recipient of this exclusive Omaze charity event,” says Johng Ho Song, KYCC Executive Director. “He has been dedicated to serving the Koreatown community for decades, and this commitment is only getting stronger.”

Star Trek Beyond is being directed by Justin Lin, featuring a screenplay worked on by Simon Pegg. The film is currently set for release on July 8, 2016. This Omaze campaign is similar to their 2014 Star Wars: Force for Change initiative that raised $4.2 million for UNICEF.
