On Oct. 24, KYCC’s Environmental Services hosted their first Volunteer Team Lead training with Hwarang Youth Foundation — a volunteer organization based in Koreatown dedicated to empowering volunteers to serve their community.

“In the last few months, we have been able to re-connect with our volunteers through our community events. We welcomed Hwarang Youth Foundation on Oct. 24, 2020, for our first volunteer tree planting event of the season,” said Margarita Muñoz, KYCC Environmental Services Outreach and Project Specialist.

Volunteers learned how to plant trees, lead groups of volunteers, and engage with their fellow volunteers while safely planting four new Palo Verde trees in the South LA area.

“I know that times have been uncertain, but it was nice to see how our volunteers enjoyed themselves as they walked through the process of planting a tree. We are excited to grow our team of Volunteer Team Leads and plant with volunteers again,” said Muñoz.
