DEK: \u201cIt\u2019s a tool, not a toy!\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this year, KYCC Children\u2019s Center received a technology grant from the Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky\u2019s office. To foster a tech-savvy generation, we introduced 16 iPads this fall for the children to use during small and large group times. Teachers will use this technology as an additional tool in multiple subjects such as photography, literature, music and art. Teachers are partnering with parents to identify the best apps for young children 2.5 to 5 years of age.<\/p>\n<p>Our school uses developmentally appropriate practices to implement \u201cemergent curriculum,\u201d which builds on the ideas and interests of the students.
