The class, \u201cMy Plate,\u201d taught Kindergarten, First and Second Graders how much of each food group should be on their plates.<\/p>\n<p>LAFRB Child and Nutrition Programs Supervisor Dora Chow and Child Nutrition Engagement Coordinator Amirah Dales (with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalservice.gov\/programs\/americorps\">AmeriCorps<\/a> VISTA) will continue to teach KYCC&#8217;s Wilton Center and Menlo Family Center elementary and middle school programs about nutrition, while also providing them with daily snacks, which consist of a meal entr\u00e9e, vegetables, fruits and milk.<\/p>\n<p>During their first class, after talking about food portions, Dora and Amirah made guacamole with the class.<\/p>\n<p>KYCC Lead Elementary Instructor Heather Jun says that enrichment classes other than arts and crafts are important. \u201cLARFB&#8217;s cooking and nutrition classes make our program more diverse in curriculum in addition to offering kids healthier alternatives for snacks\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>LARFB will continue classes through the month of April.
