KYCC hosted 500 volunteers at its Annual Koreatown Community Cleanup on Sat., Sept. 15, 2018, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hoover St. Elementary School to clean the streets of Koreatown.\u00a0Volunteers of all ages spent the morning walking through Koreatown streets pulling weeds, pressure washing and picking up trash.<\/p>\n

This year’s Annual Koreatown Community Cleanup was in conjunction with Coastal Cleanup Day and World Cleanup Day, a global effort to clean up trash and better our environment. California Coastal Cleanup Day is being held at over 50 beach, creek, park, lake, river, marina and schoolyard locations throughout L.A. County.<\/p>\n

“KYCC’s Annual Koreatown Community Cleanup is our effort to collect trash before it reaches waterways and our oceans,” says KYCC Environmental Services Manager Rachel Malarich, “addressing ocean pollution at one of its largest sources—-our streets.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The annual cleanup began in 2015. Community partners include Madres Que Luchan<\/a>, City of Los Angeles Office of Community Beautification<\/a>, Healthy Start, the YMCA<\/a>, IDEPSCA<\/a>, Heal the Bay<\/a>, Rise Kohyang High School<\/a>, and Hoover St. Elementary School.<\/a><\/p>\n
