In partnership with the Los Angeles Clippers,\u00a0<\/a>KYCC hosted Korean Heritage Night on Monday, January 14 at the Staples Center (1111 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90015) in Downtown Los Angeles. The 7:30 p.m. game against the New Orleans Pelicans honored the Korean American community in Los Angeles in celebration of Korean American Day, which was on January 13. The event not only incorporated Korean culture, but also highlighted Koreatown\u2019s diverse community.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Special performances during Monday night\u2019s game included Korean American singer-songwriter and actress Megan Lee<\/a> who sang the National Anthem; Korean American rapper Junoflo<\/a>; and other Korean cultural performances.\u00a0Students from KYCC\u2019s Elementary Tutorial Program (ETP) stood alongside Ms. Lee and had the opportunity to high-five the players from both teams before the game. Residents from the Menlo Family Apartments, KYCC\u2019s 60-unit affordable housing building, and students from our youth programs, were given the opportunity to high-five the players in the fan tunnels at the game\u2019s start and halftime.<\/p>\n

South Korean Professional baseball players Sung Bum Na from NC Dinos<\/a> and Jae Won Oh and Jae Il Oh from Doosan Bears<\/a> were also present in support of Korean Heritage Night.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>\u201cKYCC is so honored to host the Korean Heritage Night at the Staples Center with the Los Angeles Clippers,\u201d said KYCC Executive Director Johng Ho Song. \u201cWe are also excited at the opportunity to inform the Greater Los Angeles community about our 44-year-old organization and the tremendous work that we continue to do for children and families in our community.\u201d<\/p>\n
