{"id":82006,"date":"2022-04-11T12:36:55","date_gmt":"2022-04-11T19:36:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kyccla.org\/press-release\/kycc-and-metro-outreach-for-national-drug-and-alcohol-facts-week\/"},"modified":"2022-04-11T12:36:55","modified_gmt":"2022-04-11T19:36:55","slug":"kycc-and-metro-outreach-for-national-drug-and-alcohol-facts-week","status":"publish","type":"press-release","link":"https:\/\/www.kyccla.org\/ko\/press-release\/kycc-and-metro-outreach-for-national-drug-and-alcohol-facts-week\/","title":{"rendered":"KYCC and Metro Outreach for National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>On Wednesday March 23, 2022, members from KYCC&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kyccla.org\/services\/prevention-education\/\">Prevention Education<\/a>\u00a0partnered with <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.metro.net\/\">Metro <\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"><\/span>t<\/span><span>o promote our <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"><\/span>Youth Drug Abuse Prevention Program (YDAPP) and Smokefree Multi-Unit Housing (MUH) for <a href=\"https:\/\/teens.drugabuse.gov\/national-drug-alcohol-facts-week\">National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week<\/a> (NDAFW). NDAFW is an annual, week-long, health observance that inspires dialogue about the science of drug use and addiction among youth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"507\" height=\"439\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-26274\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kyccla.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-08-at-2.55.32-PM.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kyccla.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-08-at-2.55.32-PM.png 507w, https:\/\/www.kyccla.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-08-at-2.55.32-PM-300x260.png 300w, https:\/\/www.kyccla.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-08-at-2.55.32-PM-150x130.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 507px) 100vw, 507px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span>The outreach took place at the Wilshire\/Vermont Red and Purple Line Station in hopes that community members can become aware of the programs offered and get involved to learn more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cCommunity members are in need of resources and education on substance abuse prevention,&#8221; says Christine Nguyen, KYCC Prevention Specialist.<\/p>\n<p><span>KYCC Prevention Education unit was established to engage and empower the diverse immigrant community members to become the movement towards a healthier and more equitable community. Since 1996, YDAPP has raised awareness on the risks of substance abuse among Koreatown youth through creative projects, surveys and education on tobacco and alcohol trends. The Smokefree Multi-Unit Housing program is part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.angelenosforcleanair.org\/\">Angelenos for Clean Air<\/a> coalition, a community led effort that aims to educate and empower community members and organizations about the effects of secondhand smoke in multi-unit housing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"514\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-26275\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kyccla.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-08-at-2.55.04-PM.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kyccla.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-08-at-2.55.04-PM.png 514w, https:\/\/www.kyccla.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-08-at-2.55.04-PM-300x175.png 300w, https:\/\/www.kyccla.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-08-at-2.55.04-PM-150x88.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 514px) 100vw, 514px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span>Over 100 people were outreached at the Metro pop-up event and given Metro Low-Income Fare is Easy (LIFE) Program, YDAPP, and MUH program printed materials. There were 12 people who successfully signed up for one of the programs!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This event was funded by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.metro.net\">Metro<\/a>.
