On May 12, KYCC Prevention Education hosted the 7th Annual Flores de Mayo event to commemorate our Prevention Community Council (PCC), which currently has a membership of over 160 adult community members.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since 2017, Flores de Mayo has been celebrated annually to promote an alcohol-free environment for our parent groups. The event challenges the cultural “tradition” that parties can only be enjoyed with the need for alcoholic beverages and invites our parent groups to join us for a special evening.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In addition, Flores de Mayo is in appreciation and recognition of the great work that the KYCC parent groups have achieved throughout the year in support of Prevention Education efforts. It has been a fantastic year working with the parents as they learn about emergent issues and advocate for their communities to make our neighborhoods a place where youth and families can thrive.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Congratulations to all the organizers who made this beautiful event possible and I feel that we are worth it as mothers,” said one parent participant.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Another parent said \u201cThanks, KYCC and everyone involved in this beautiful event…It was very lovely and it was great to be able to celebrate all of those who dedicated their time to educating themselves more.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“It was a beautiful celebration for the mothers and those invited, as well as for the kids’ safety,” noted one parent.<\/span><\/p>\n
