On September 12, 2024, KYCC presented its 23rd Annual Benefit Concert<\/a> at The Colburn School’s Zipper Concert Hall<\/a> in Downtown Los Angeles. This year’s benefit concert raised $482,000 of unrestricted funds to support programs and services across KYCC. The concert was held in partnership with the Korean American Music Foundation<\/a> (KAMF), whose talented orchestra accompanied all of our evening’s performers. This year’s Title Sponsor was Bank of America<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“We are honored to be back in-person to celebrate 49 years of KYCC’s service to the community and all of our supporters who have championed us along the way,” says KYCC Executive Director, Johng Ho Song. “Thanks to support from all of our sponsors, like this year’s Title Sponsor, Bank of America, we are able to provide crucial unrestricted funding for our agency, ensuring that we can build capacity and sustain our programs at the highest levels of quality for many more years to come.”<\/p>\n

Our Masters of Ceremonies were Alex Reid<\/a>, former K-Pop idol with BP Rania, and Suzie Suh<\/a>, news anchor for KCAL News, who led our audience through the evening of unforgettable musical performances. The evening began with KAMF’s Korean American Youth Symphony orchestra playing Franz von Suppe’s “Calgary,” followed by Queen’s iconic “Bohemian Rhapsody.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Throughout the night, we were joined by the amazing musical talents of Joey Qui\u00f1ones, an East LA native and lead singer of the East LA Soul and R&B band, Thee Sinseers<\/a>, who sang a classic hit by Sunny & The Sunliners, “Talk to Me,” followed by his own track, “What\u2019s His Name.”<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

German-born, London-raised singer-songwriter, Arlissa<\/a> graced us with her stunning vocals, performing her original songs, “Every Time I Breathe,” “Hearts Ain’t Gonna Lie,” and a special preview of her new upcoming album, performing the song, “Skin & Bones.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Following our intermission, our final performer of the evening was actor, singer-songwriter, and producer Kevin Woo<\/a>, most notably recognized as the main vocalist in the K-pop idol group U-KISS, who made their debut in 2008. Kevin’s performance included his rendition of “Beautiful” by Crush (Goblin OST), his original song “Beautiful Day,” and “0330,” a tribute to his K-Pop days with U-KISS.\u00a0The final performance to end the evening was a very special duet, combining the amazing vocals of Arlissa and Kevin Woo, singing “Shallow,” by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, from the movie, “A Star is Born.”\u00a0<\/p>\n
