On January 31, 2025 <\/span>Free Tax Prep Los Angeles<\/span><\/a> kicked off its 2025 tax season with a press conference aimed at raising awareness about the complimentary tax preparation services offered to eligible residents of Los Angeles who earn up to $67,000 each year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Free Tax Prep Los Angeles is an educational campaign aimed at alleviating the stress associated with tax season. This initiative is a joint effort involving the <\/span>City and County of Los Angeles<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Koreatown Youth + Community Center<\/span><\/a> (KYCC), and <\/span>United Way of Greater Los Angeles <\/span><\/a>to encourage and assist in claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the press conference that was joined by Estrella TV, LA CityView 35, and FamilySource Centers from across Los Angeles County, among others, Free Tax Prep Los Angeles highlighted key updates, including the expanded tax credits available to low-income residents and the ease of filing through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Other highlight components included the <\/span>Earned Income Tax Credit<\/span><\/a> (EITC) and the FamilySource Centers throughout Los Angeles, who have been helping low-moderate income families file for these credits. It\u2019s been 50 years of uplifting families out of poverty with the EITC! We must continue pushing these tax credits and the resources available to claim these credits for free through the Free Tax Prep LA Coalition.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eligible taxpayers can now receive up to $7,830 through the Federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). Additionally, California offers up to $3,644 through the CalEITC, and up to $1,154 through both the Young Child Tax Credit and the Foster Youth Tax Credit. These credits can make a substantial difference for low-income families and individuals, allowing them to keep more of their hard-earned money.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
