Wilshire FamilySource Center Celebrates Early Childhood Development

On October 30, 2025 KYCC’s Wilshire FamilySource Center hosted HalloBaby, a festive and educational gathering designed for families with children ages 0–5. The event aimed to promote early childhood development, equip parents with practical knowledge, and connect families to valuable community resources that support their children’s growth and well-being.

The HalloBaby event featured a collaborative educational workshop led by LAUSD staff, emphasizing the importance of early childhood development. Families learned about developmental milestones and received guidance on accessing free, ongoing resources available through the Los Angeles Public Library, LAUSD, and KYCC Wilshire FamilySource Center. This partnership created an engaging environment where families could connect directly with community representatives, ask questions, and receive personalized support.

The event brought together a vibrant mix of families, volunteers, and community partners. A total of 34 families participated, representing 168 household members. The day was made possible through the efforts of 14 dedicated volunteers, 8 KYCC Wilshire FSC staff members, and three partner representatives—one from the Los Angeles Public Library and two from LAUSD—who all played a vital role in facilitating the day’s programming.

To support families’ immediate needs and add a festive touch, participants received a variety of essential items and gifts. These included baby essentials such as diapers, wipes, clothes, blankets, and toys provided by Baby2Baby, as well as educational kits and books donated by the Los Angeles Public Library. In the spirit of Halloween, families also received costumes for children ages 0–16, bringing extra joy and excitement to the celebration.

HalloBaby successfully created a warm and welcoming space for families to learn, connect, and celebrate. Parents left with essential baby supplies, but also greater awareness of local resources and practical tools to support their children’s early development.

Through the combined efforts of volunteers, partners, and staff, KYCC’s Wilshire FamilySource Center strengthened its mission to empower families and nurture strong community connections.
