Through a collaborative chalk art activation, the teams worked to promote inclusion, safety, and resilience while inviting residents to participate in storytelling in an accessible and creative way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-85416 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kyccla.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/CM1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1536\" height=\"2048\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kyccla.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/CM1.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/www.kyccla.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/CM1-225x300.jpeg 225w, https:\/\/www.kyccla.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/CM1-768x1024.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.kyccla.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/CM1-1152x1536.jpeg 1152w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1536px) 100vw, 1536px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sixteen youth, adults, families, and KYCC staff participated in the campaign\u2019s first event, launching the series with strong community engagement. Attendees were invited to share their experiences and perspectives on belonging and anti-hate messaging through interviews conducted by KSP staff, creating space for meaningful dialogue and reflection. As a reusable, low-waste, and non-toxic medium, chalk reflects Environmental Services\u2019 commitment to resourcefulness and environmentally responsible practices. For many, chalk evokes childhood memories and a sense of play. That familiarity helps lower barriers to participation, creating an atmosphere that feels open, safe, and inviting. Stay tuned for upcoming events including, the Utility Box Maintenance \u2013 \u201cPaint Out Hate\u201d event on February 14, followed by Chalk Day #2 \u2013 \u201cKoreatown Stories of Strength\u201d on February 28. The series will culminate with the Community Mural Project \u2013 \u201cWe Belong Here\u201d celebration on March 28.
