On Saturday, October 25, 2025, KYCC\u2019s Prevention Education \u201cLet\u2019s Make a Difference\u201d team collaborated with the <\/span>Los Angeles Police Department\u2019s Rampart Division<\/span><\/a> and the <\/span>U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration<\/span><\/a> (DEA) to host the annual <\/span>National Prescription Drug Takeback Day<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the event, community members were able to safely dispose of expired or unused prescription medications and learn about KYCC\u2019s \u201cLet\u2019s Make a Difference\u201d campaign, which promotes safe medication storage and disposal practices to prevent misuse and protect the environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

This year, we were excited to expand our efforts by hosting a Community Resource Fair alongside the medication drop-off booth. The fair brought together numerous community partners, including KYCC’s <\/span>Recovery Services <\/span><\/a>& <\/span>Prevention Education<\/span><\/a> programs,<\/span> Institutes for Public Strategies <\/span><\/a>Children\u2019s Hospital Los Angeles<\/span><\/a> Behavioral Health Services<\/span><\/a> The Wall Las Memorias<\/span><\/a> Social Model Recovery Services<\/span><\/a> and<\/span> Clinica Romero<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Together, these organizations shared valuable health and wellness resources, substance use prevention information, and community support services with local residents.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are proud to share that this year\u2019s Takeback Day collected a total of 142.2 pounds of unused or expired prescription medication \u2014 helping ensure these substances are safely removed from homes and properly disposed of.<\/span><\/p>\n

A special thank you goes to <\/span>Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez\u2019s Office<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>CALI 93.9<\/span><\/a> for their continued collaboration and support in making this event a success.<\/span><\/p>\n
