{"id":82593,"date":"2015-08-05T10:46:04","date_gmt":"2015-08-05T17:46:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kyccla.org\/press-release\/kycc-celebrates-40th-anniversary-at-annual-benefit-concert\/"},"modified":"2015-08-05T10:46:04","modified_gmt":"2015-08-05T17:46:04","slug":"kycc-celebrates-40th-anniversary-at-annual-benefit-concert","status":"publish","type":"press-release","link":"https:\/\/www.kyccla.org\/es\/press-release\/kycc-celebrates-40th-anniversary-at-annual-benefit-concert\/","title":{"rendered":"KYCC Celebrates 40th Anniversary at Annual Benefit Concert"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On July 31, KYCC celebrated its\u00a040<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary at the 14<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Benefit Concert at The Music Center\u2019s Walt Disney Concert Hall.<\/p>\n<p>With support from Title Sponsor Dura Coat Products and Official Sponsor Nissan, the show was a tremendous success, surpassing the goal to raise $350,000 for KYCC programs and services. Nearly 2,000 guests enjoyed the entertainment, which highlighted KYCC\u2019s timeline and themes of Korean heritage, Korean American youth and diversity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is time for us to celebrate 40 years of service,\u201d says KYCC Executive Director Johng Ho Song. \u201cThis was all possible because of the numerous sponsors and program supporters whom we have had over the years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Emcees Jinah Kim and Leonardo Nam kicked off the first half of the show, featuring Nani Kim, a 27-year-old traditional Korean Pansori singer and the Korean American Youth Symphony, led by longtime KYCC concert conductor Seung Ju Kim. Jiye Angela Bae performed an outstanding piece by Saint-Saens, and Broadway performers Welly and Dina sang \u00abThe Prayer,\u00bb a Oscar-nominated duet from <em>Quest for Camelot.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>After intermission, Randall Park (<em>The Interview, Fresh Off the Boat<\/em>) and his wife Jae Suh Park opened the second act with an endearing version of \u201cIt Had to Be You.\u201d Acts from Kollaboration\u2014singer Peter Chung, MC Jin and Tim Be Told\u2014followed with original performances, and pianist Chloe Flower dedicated her untitled solo to those still living in slavery.<\/p>\n<p>Headliner Kenny \u201cBabyface\u201d Edmonds, a 11-time Grammy winner, closed the show with a solo performance and \u201cChange the World,\u201d a beautiful duet with Ms. Flowers.<\/p>\n<p>Special thanks to our show\u2019s premiere sponsors Bank of America, Comerica Bank, US Bank and Wells Fargo.<\/p>\n<p>For more photos from KYCC&#8217;s 14th Annual Benefit Concert, please view our Facebook album <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/KYCCLA\/timeline\/story?ut=43&amp;wstart=0&amp;wend=1441090799&amp;hash=-3677594901702802509&amp;pagefilter=3\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On July 31, KYCC celebrated its\u00a040th anniversary at the 14th Annual Benefit Concert at The Music Center\u2019s Walt Disney Concert Hall.
