In October, KYCC launched a new Prevention Education program, Building Stronger Families in Metro LA (BSF). Edith Bedolla, formerly KYCC Prevention Coordinator, is the manager for this program, which will support families with children ages 0-5 who are exposed to violence inside and outside the home. By partnering with other organizations throughout Los Angeles, BSF hopes to improve living conditions for families that do not have a stable living environment.<\/p>\n
\u00abKYCC and our partners are very excited to work along with\u00a0Best Start Metro LA \u00a0on this community initiative,\u00bb says Sam Joo, KYCC Director of Children and Family Services. \u00abThe issue of violence was identified the by the BSF\u00a0parents as a critical issue that impacts the well-being of families in our neighborhoods.\u00bb<\/p>\n
Through training with community members, partner organizations and participants, BSF\u00a0hopes to deter violence within the home, improve family interactions and social connections\/relationships, and address daily experiences with fear, feelings of powerlessness, and stigma. \u00a0BSF aims to promote a culture of respect by identifying, understanding, and practicing family and community values that impact positive family and community interactions.<\/p>\n
KYCC is the leading partner for this initiative. BSF’s other partners include: All People\u2019s Community Center,\u00a0California Science Center,\u00a0Center for the Pacific Asian Family,\u00a0Children\u2019s Bureau,\u00a0Esperanza Housing Corporation,\u00a0KFAM,\u00a0Pathways,\u00a0Peace Over Violence, and Worksite Wellness LA.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
