The program was created to complement the Bureau of Sanitation\u2019s free Bulky\u00a0Item Pickup that city residents can request through the 311 system. While larger items are\u00a0handled through B.O.S., KYCC\u2019s Clean Streets Program targets smaller items that blight many\u00a0of our neighborhood streets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKYCC coordinates with the Office of Community Beautification in the City of Los Angeles\u00a0Board of Public Works to handle tree maintenance, weed abatement, and trash pickups,\u201d says\u00a0Rub\u00e9n J. Aranda, KYCC Clean Streets Specialist. \u201cWe are combining our efforts to create a\u00a0greener environment for all of our neighborhoods.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>KYCC\u2019s Clean Streets Program is working in partnership with the offices of Council District 1,\u00a0Council District 10 and the LAPD Olympic Division. The program has been extremely effective\u00a0in immediately helping to address trash and litter concerns raised by community members.\u00a0\u201cThe diligence, quality and work ethic with which Environmental Services handles each and\u00a0every request that comes their way through the Clean Streets initiative is nothing short of what\u00a0Council District 1 has come to expect from the excellent services of KYCC,\u201d said Ana Gomez,\u00a0L.A. City Council District 1 Field Deputy. \u201c[KYCC\u2019s] crew has been able to provide additional\u00a0services essential to the quality of life for some of the most densely populated communities in\u00a0the City of Los Angeles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In April, the City of Los Angeles launched \u201cCleanStat,\u201d a new database that uses dashcam video\u00a0footage to monitor garbage volumes and measures neighborhood cleanliness across the city. The\u00a0goal is to identify target neighborhoods and to implement more effective procedures to make\u00a0sure those areas are clean. The database is the first of its kind in the nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClean streets are important to the health and well-being of every Angeleno\u2014from children who\u00a0walk to school, to small business owners looking to create thriving commercial corridors,\u201d said\u00a0Mayor Eric Garcetti. \u201cThis data-driven rating system measures L.A.\u2019s cleanliness, block-by-\u00a0block, so we can get the right resources to the right place at the right time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If you have a street in your community that needs to be cleaned up, please let KYCC know!
