KYCC’s Clinical Services, in conjunction with API Partnerships for Families (PFF<\/a>), hosted their annual family-fun picnic event for Koreatown children and families on Tues., June 4, 2019. My First Picnic drew 45 families to Shatto Recreation Center<\/a> in Koreatown for a fun morning of outdoor activities. Korean families with children ages 0-5 enjoyed story time with BooknSook<\/a>, music lessons, bubble play time and free lunch. Funded by the Department of Children and Family Services<\/a>, this event was intended to strengthen families and help children and parents establish social connections through quality time together.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00abFamilies expressed a strong desire for events like this, as resources for Korean-speaking families are limited. KYCC looks forward to supporting more Koreatown families with home visits, Mommy and Me classes, Parents Self-Care Nights, and other community events\u00bb said Rumee Chung, API PFF Coordinator.<\/p>\n

KYCC’s PFF program is a child abuse prevention program, funded by the Department of Children and Family Services, designed to address the needs of pregnant women coping with substance abuse, mental illness or domestic violence as well as DCFS-referred families with children five years of age or younger who are at risk of maltreatment in Los Angeles County.<\/p>\n
