Eager to stay connected with our preschool students and support working parents, KYCC\u2019s Kids Town teachers and staff successfully hosted monthly Drive By and Say Hi events during the coronavirus quarantine. Parents and children arrived in the parking lot of the preschool, were greeted by teachers and staff, and every child was provided with a free goodie bag full of curriculum materials, school supplies, arts and craft activities, coloring books, sticker activity books and even grocery bags of food and other essentials such as diapers.<\/p>\n

Through the Drive By and Say Hi events, Kids Town educators and staff have found ways to engage and support families struggling through the challenges of distance learning. Kids Town was able to help 36 families at one of the Drive By events and an additional 20 families scheduled to pick up care packages on another date. Siblings who did not attend Kids Town also received these care packages as well at no cost.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Foundation<\/a> generously donated crayons, pencils, pencil sharpeners, reusable bags, and children\u2019s books and activity books to enhance playtime at home. First 5 LA<\/a> provided students school supplies like crayons, children books, maracas and crowns. Smile California<\/a> also donated coloring books and sticker activity books, pens, and placemats. Census 2020<\/a> donated census children\u2019s activity books to highlight the importance of counting all young children in the 2020 Census.<\/p>\n
