In September and October, the <\/span>Natural History Museum<\/span><\/a> partnered with KYCC\u2019s Menlo and Wilton Youth Services programs to provide educational workshops to our youth, including 80 K-8th grade students. KYCC is a community partner of the Natural History Museum, who is part of the <\/span>LA STEM Collective<\/span><\/a> and received funding to bring programming to community centers and non-profits throughout Los Angeles.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The LA STEM Collective is a group of museums, aquariums, and nonprofit and community-based science education organizations. The group first came together in response to the pandemic, providing distance learning STEM education for Los Angeles students.<\/span> Their mission of providing quality STEM education opportunities for the LA Community aligned with KYCC\u2019s Youth Services core framework.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The day was spent with students learning all about the ancient fossils found around Los Angeles, led by Natural History Museum educators, Iesha and Emely. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00abIt was really cool! I learned that fossils are actually really hard to break,\u00bb says Steven Ramirez, a 4<\/span>th<\/span> Grade Youth Services student.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00abI learned that LA used to be underwater,\u00bb says Lyric Jarrett, a 7<\/span>th<\/span> Grade Youth Services student.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are excited to partner with them more in the future to provide engaging STEM workshops and foster curiosity and exploration in our youth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
