Throughout the month of February, KYCC Environmental Services partnered with the County and City of Los Angeles in support of the outreach efforts for the Los Angeles Urban Forestry Management Plan (<\/span>LAUFMP<\/span><\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n

The LAUFMP aimed to gather input and viewpoints from community members throughout the City and County of Los Angeles regarding trees, seeking community input on issues such as current tree care, tree coverage, and urban forestry services they would like to see improved or altered.<\/span><\/p>\n

KYCC conducted outreach for workshops on February 10 at <\/span>St. Paul Lutheran Church<\/span><\/a> and on February 24 at <\/span>Pico Union Branch Library,<\/span> <\/a>\u00a0while also helping to organize the workshops, allowing community members to share their views on trees in Los Angeles.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through outreach efforts leading up to the workshops, KYCC engaged with 3,023 community members and an additional 1,564 members through in-person activities. In addition, there were 23 participants who participated in the workshops and 43 surveys were completed.<\/span><\/p>\n

A takeaway from a workshop participant noted that, \u201cthere are great community advocates that are here to listen to the community voices and we would love to see more of these types of community awareness.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThis collaborative effort between the <\/span>County and City of Los Angeles<\/span><\/a> is supported by <\/span>Proposition 40<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>California Climate Investments funding<\/span><\/a> provided by the <\/span>California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection<\/span><\/a> (CAL FIRE) Urban and Community Forestry Program.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
