On Friday, April 19, KYCC held its third Annual Unwind Your Mind Koreatown Youth Summit at the<\/span> Los Angeles County Department Of Mental Health Administration<\/span><\/a>. Unwind Your Mind is a collaboration between KYCC’s Clinical Services, Prevention Education, and Youth Services programs to create a safe space for high school students to build community with each other, while unwinding with art, music, and interactive workshops.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In addition to the fun workshops and activities, the event also included a conversation with keynote speaker actor Ki Hong Lee who joined us as he shared about his inspiring career path and how he practices self-care, a visit from <\/span>Councilwoman Heather Hutt<\/span><\/a>, raffle prizes, free food, and service hours for the students.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The event takes place in the weeks before AP testing, allowing students to unwind but to also participate in mindful workshops and a resource fair, which provides youth with resources that cover topics such as mental health, cultural identity, empowerment, substance use disorder among youth, Naloxone training, and much more.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Students also had the chance to immerse themselves in a variety of workshops that were hosted by KYCC\u2019s youth programs including Koreatown Organizing to Reduce Youth Opioid Use (<\/span>KORYO<\/span><\/a>), Spreading Awareness to Youth (<\/span>SAY<\/span><\/a>), and Youth Drug Abuse Prevention Program (<\/span>YDAPP<\/span><\/a>), along with the <\/span>Lucas Museum of Narrative Art<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Asian and Pacific Islander Children, Youth and Family Council (<\/span>APICYFC<\/span><\/a>), <\/span>Jinea Soriano, and Marion Draws who hosted workshops around topics ranging from advocacy through art, empowering through vision board making & journaling, to Kdrama and karaoke, storytelling, and more.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
