The MacArthur Park Community Initiative (MPCI), is a key component of KYCC\u2019s Prevention Education program. Committed to fostering a cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable MacArthur Park for everyone to appreciate,<\/span> MPCI offers a range of interactive and educational experiences for the community.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Keepers program ensures that families can bond and learn together in meaningful ways and <\/span>was established to support the park and promote a safe atmosphere. The twelve members gathered weekly to plan and carry out intergenerational arts activities, primarily focusing on crafts made from recycled paper and implement fun activities at the park.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Their dedication and creativity in organizing activities drew in more than 30 families and children every two weeks from July to August. To honor the month-long contributions of the Keepers Program members, a celebration ceremony took place on August 29, with community partners coming together to recognize the positive influence that the Keepers Program had in MacArthur Park.<\/span><\/p>\n

By establishing safe spaces where individuals can contribute positively to their community and take pride in the park, our MCPI programs help ensure that MacArthur Park is a safe and welcoming place for everyone\u2014especially families.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cChildren happily engage in their tasks, and their faces clearly show their enjoyment. The mothers also seem pleased with the program they’re participating in, and I feel truly happy about the positive impact we\u2019re making,\u201d notes one of the program participants.<\/span><\/p>\n
