On October 5, KYCC’s Environmental Services team hosted a community event focused on enhancing a median situated at the intersection of Union Ave and Venice Blvd. During this event, 45 volunteers came together to plant more than 60 native California and drought-resistant plants and shrubs.<\/span><\/p>\n

The project introduced California native and drought-resistant plants and shrubs to the area, with the goal of mitigating the urban heat island effect of the local climate, while also enhancing green spaces in our community.<\/span><\/p>\n

This was a special community planting event aimed<\/span> at enhancing the landscape, while also fostering a sense of community and environmental stewardship.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Over the next six months, our landscaping team will be responsible for maintenance, including debris and weed removal, regular watering, and monitoring plant health.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
