  • Crossroads Middle School Program: Offers tutorial services and academic/social enrichment to off-track middle school students in grades 5-8. Curriculum utilizes technology as an instructional tool to aid student development and academic growth.   • Elementary Tutorial Program: Offers tutorial services in language arts, mathematics, computer instruction and various academic subjects.   • Parent Advocacy Committee and Team: The Parent Advocacy Committee and Team (PACt) is a committee consisting of Korean Youth & Community Center parents and a team of KYCC staff dedicated to enriching the lives of families and their surrounding community.   • Community Technology Learning Center: KYCC provides computer training and technology access to the Koreatown community.

  • Child Abuse Prevention & Intervention Services: Individual, family, and group counseling for victims and those at-risk of child abuse and neglect including educational workshops to raise community awareness about child abuse
  • Family Preservation: Intensive in-home counseling, support services and linkage services for families that are at-risk of separation with primary focus on safety of the children.
  • Juvenile Delinquency Prevention/Intervention Services: Individual, family, and group counseling and support services for children and youth at-risk of delinquency.
  • Mental Health Services: Individual, group, and family therapy for children, youth and their families. Specialized group therapy for substance abuse and anger management available.
  • Parent Education: Training and education for parents to gain a better understanding of child and adolescent development and appropriate parenting skills.

  • Small Business Program: Our goal is to meet and address the needs of Korean-American and Koreatown businesses to increase opportunities for growth and success that will further enhance the lives of our families and our community.
  • Business Education & Outreach Programs: Utilizing the expertise of local professionals as trainers, KYCC sponsors targeted workshops on various topics including: access to capital, marketing, inventory management, and lease negotiations. Also, we provide technical assistance in industries targeting Korean American entrepreneurs.
  • Small Business Technical Assistance Services: Business Plan Development and Assessment, Sales/Marketing, Business Management, General Business Counseling, Human Resource Management, Loan Packaging, Inventory Management, Commercial Lease Negotiation.
  • IDA Program: Individual Development Accounts (IDA) are matched savings accounts designed to help families and individuals of modest means to establish a pattern of regular savings, and ultimately purchase a “productive asset.” IDA program offers comprehensive financial literacy classes and micro-enterprise training to assist participants in starting or expanding their micro to small businesses.
  • Low-Income Housing (KYC Apts./Reno Apts.): Provides affordable housing to disadvantaged families and individuals in the Koreatown area.

  • We provide a variety of developmentally appropriate interest areas to explore, and hands-on experiences with lots of open-ended materials. This creates a rich environment for children to learn, grow, and develop at their own pace. We focus on problem solving, nurturing creativity, developing social skills, and building meaningful learning experiences from the emerging interests of the children.
  • Children are free to choose from a variety of teacher directed and child-initiated activities and interest areas including: exploring sand and water, dramatic play, stories, language and literacy activities, science exploration, block building, manipulative and numeric development, art and carpentry materials, music and movement, clay and play dough, sculpting, painting collage work, cooking, gardening and a variety of active outdoor exploration. All of these activities are designed to promote high self-esteem, independent learning, friendships, and foster lifelong feelings of competence.
  • Comprehensive support services will include parent education, health services, case management services, mental health services and information about and referral for other types of services needed by families. All enrolled families will also have access to other KYCC programs such as our small business assistance program, academic programs for elementary and middle school youth and leadership development programs for high school youth.

  • Graffiti Removal: KYCC crews remove graffiti 7 days a week throughout Koreatown. KYCC upholds “Zero Tolerance” standards against graffiti for Koreatown residents and business owners in the form of free graffiti removal services in conjunction with the City of Los Angeles, Office of Community Beautification (OCB). Most graffiti is removed within a 24-hour time frame from both public and private locations. Requests for service can be made by calling the City hotline (311) or by emailing cleanup@kyccla.org.  For more info, call KYCC Environmental Services at 213.743.8750.
  • Tree Planting: KYCC’s Tree Planting crews install street trees throughout Los Angeles to help buffer the interface between automobile and pedestrian traffic. KYCC places emphasis on planting trees near schools and community resources. All tree planting is done in accordance with policies established by the Bureau of Street Services, Street Tree Division.   • Water Conservation: KYCC distributes and installs, FREE of charge, new low-flush toilets and other water conservation devices for qualifying Los Angeles Department of Water and Power residential customers. KYCC’s free installation services apply to the following water conservation devices:
     -Ultra-Low Flush Toilets
     -Low-flow Showerheads
     -Kitchen Aerators
     -Bathroom Aerators

  • The Treehouse:The Treehouse is KYCC’s umbrella program for all Youth Development services.  The Treehouse serves as a daily drop-in center that focuses in all areas of individual life skills development: leadership training, teambuilding strategies, effective communication styles, career exploration, entrepreneurial training, academic assistance, college preparatory courses, enrichment activities, community involvement and gender-specific programming that address at-risk youth.  The programs are divided into four modules:  Body & Health, Mind & Education, Community Involvement & Environmental Issues, and Cultural Differences & Family Traditions.
    We are located at 680 South Wilton Place. The center’s regular hours of operation are Monday-Friday 3:30-7:30 pm, all youth are encouraged to join by filling out an application. Contact Betty Fong at 213.365.7400 ext. 146
  • Korean Coalition of Students in California (KCSC): KCSC serves as the center of unity for Korean and Asian clubs in the Greater Los Angeles area. The Korean Coalition of Students in California hosts numerous social and community service events such as an annual high school dance, sports tournaments, beach outings and other recreational or community service activities for youth. This program runs year round. Youth can expect to develop leadership skills such as event organization, community outreach, volunteer mobilization, and working as part of a cohesive group towards a common goal. Contact: James Yu.
  • Tutor Education And Mentor Program (TEAM): The Tutor Education And Mentor program is a joint venture with the Academic Services unit. High school and college students are trained and placed to provide tutorial services to the elementary students in the Neighborhood Action Program.   • California High School Exit Exam Preparation Course: Descriptions / Objectives:   The CAHSEE Preparation Course is designed to help students prepare for and pass the exit exam. Currently, we offer an English CAHSEE prep, and a Math CAHSEE prep class.  The English class meets on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 1:30 pm-3:00 pm. The Math class meets on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:15 pm - 5:45 pm.  Students will take practice tests, work on test-taking strategies, and will review test questions.  To enroll, students can come to the Drop-In Center in Harrison Hall (across from the Title 1 office) after school.
  • Seeking to Enrich Education and Knowledge at LA High (SEEK-LA) Drop-In Center :
    A collaborative effort between KYCC, UCLA, Educare, and LA High. SEEK-LA is one of 60 grantees funded through the 21st Century Community Learning grants under the No Child Left Behind mandate. SEEK-LA programs are provided as an after-school program at the Drop-In Center on LA High’s campus. Offers tutoring, homework assistance, CAHSEE prep courses, college prep, job employment training, leadership development, computer access, and various enrichment activities.
  • Youth Venture: A team of advocates trained and mobilized to raise awareness about sexually transmitted diseases. By organizing events and workshops, Youth Venture interns take their creativity and passion to outreach to their peers and make an effective change in the community.   • Youth Skills Program (YSP): YSP is an after-school mentoring program for high at-risk youth ages 13-18. There are two parts of YSP: Community Service and Life Skills Training. Community Service Projects may include, but are not limited to, community clean-ups, graffiti removal, feeding the homeless, and other projects at various local community and non-profit agencies. Life Skills Training topics include computer literacy, college and career preparation, risky behavior prevention, mentoring, and counseling. For more information, contact Wilma Franco , YSP Coordinator at 213.365.7400, ext.116.
